A few years ago, Bill Waggoner, an 86-year-old man from Bedford, Texas, launched what has come to be known as the “Psalm 91 Heroes” project. To date, some 30,000 cards have been distributed, many of them in Kansas, Texas and Pennsylvania.

American flags will be out in force this Memorial Day weekend in tribute to the military men and women who have served the nation through the years.

But for Bill Waggoner, an 86-year-old man from Bedford, Texas, honoring members of the military isn’t relegated to a special day once a year.

In fact, Waggoner doesn’t limit his gratitude only to those in the military, but extends his appreciation to police, firefighters, emergency medical technicians and all the others who put their lives on the line for their fellow citizens 24/7/365.
